Foreword
Welcome to our newly designed website.
NIIST is into its 36’th year of existence. Over the years the Institute has undergone significant growth from its humble beginning as a CSIR complex in 1975. It was renamed as the Regional Research Laboratory in 1978 and subsequently as the National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology in 2007. The Institute once again finds itself poised for its next major growth phase as it prepares its strategy and road-map in line with the 12’th Five year plan of CSIR. We have just completed a recruitment process, and are looking forward to 13 new scientists joining our Institute shortly. Their presence I am sure will greatly invigorate the Institute and strengthen our ability to achieve our stated goals. In an effort to be true to our name we have initiated steps towards improving interdisciplinary cross linking between the various Divisions of the Institute, with major activities planned in the interface between chemistry & biology and chemistry & engineering along with our societal programs. We look forward to forming partnerships with interested organizations for both research and commercialization relating to these areas.
