  • Value added syrups from Palm neera and coconut neeraSyrups prepared from saps of coconut and palmyra palm can be used for sweetening coffee, as toppings and can be a healthy substitute for ghur prepared from the sap of the   palm and   coconut tree. The same process can be adopted for making syrup from sugar cane juice and the syrup made so can be a substitute for cane juice jaggery which is prepared by adding various additives for clarification and solidification. Our products are prepared with no preservatives.
  • Cashew nut shell liquid and derivatives (CNSL)Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL) is a versatile by-product of the cashew industry and is the pericarp fluid of the cashew nut. The nut has a shell of about 1/8-inch thickness inside which is a soft honey comb structure containing a dark reddish brown viscous liquid. It is often considered as the better and cheaper material for unsaturated phenols. The distillation of CNSL produces cardanol, which is considered a pure form. CNSL has innumerable applications in polymer based industries such as friction linings, paints and varnishes, laminating resins, rubber compounding resins, cashew cements, polyurethane based polymers, surfactants, epoxy resins, foundry chemicals and intermediates for chemical industry. It offers much scope and varied opportunities for the development of other tailor – made polymers.

    Process for Polyurethane polyols from Cardanol for rigid foams, coatings: The polyols are developed form Cardanol, a renewable resource obtained as by product of cashew processing industry. The polyols are slightly cheaper than petroleum based polyols. Rigid foams have better compression strength, water resistance and thermal stability. It can also be blended with petroleum polyols for cost reduction or improved properties.

    Light colour Reactive diluents for epoxy resins from Cardanol: The reactive diluents are developed from Cardanol, a renewable resource obtained as by product of cashew processing industry. It can be blended with commercial epoxy resins to improve the flexibility, thermal and water resistance proprieties.

  • BFBR:A high-rate anaerobic Reactor for complex wastewater treatmentThe Buoyant Filter Bioreactor (BFBR) has designed for treatment of high strength complex wastewater. BFBR converts wastewater containing a high ratio of suspended COD to total COD. Suspended organic materials that contribute to anaerobically degradable COD include starches and complex carbohydrates, proteins, fats and oils. Conventional high-rate anaerobic reactors are not efficient at retaining suspended COD. Unlike in conventional high-rate UASB, the BFBR has a high efficiency retention mechanism with forced cleaning system to retain both suspended solids and biomass, and thus achieve high efficiency for wastewaters with suspended COD. The high velocity backflow is created by periodic release of gas accumulated in the reactor (US Pat. 6592751), thereby avoiding extra pumping systems and power consumption. BFBR system has been customised and installed in different rice mill and ice-cream factories as per the effluent capacity.
  • Ready to cook Dehydrated Vegetables/Vegetable MixesDehydrated ready to use vegetables/vegetable mixes for various culinary applications were developed. The focus is to process maximum quantity of the raw material during the peak harvest period and keep available stock in a safe processed condition for the whole year. Vegetables can be used directly by soaking in hot water for 2-3 minutes, could be used as vegetables and as ingredients for other food products.


  • Dehydrate fruits and fruit preserve in honeyRipe fruits are dehydrated using novel drying methods to the optimum water activity so as to retain the fresh and natural flavors.  The product has a shelf stability for one year under room temperature without any added preservatives, under vacuum package in standalone polyethylene bags. The fruits are partially osmotic dehydrated in honey followed by dehydration at mild conditions. Dehydrated fruits without any additives, can be consumed as healthy snacks/dessert/ingredient for other preparations
  • Functional vegetable oils based on Red palm olein (RPO) for culinary use with enriched carotenoids and optimum fatty acid profileHealthy cooking oil with optimum fatty acid content enriched with carotenoids and tocopherols- Vitamin A deficiency (VAD) is an important nutritional problem in India, resulting in an increased risk of severe morbidity and mortality. Blended vegetable oils with optimum fatty acid profile enriched with beta carotene was developed to combat malnutrition due to vitamin A deficiency. Field level acceptability studies for dietary application of the blends were successfully carried out.
  • Instant cereal based rice and wheat productsReady to prepare rice and wheat preparations-upma, porridge, traditional preparations- with cooking time less than 8 min.
  • Ready to cook matured jackfruit bulbsThe process is developed in such a way that it retains the freshness of the product after rehydration and cooking. The product is stable for one year under room temperature without any added preservatives, under vacuum package in flexible polyethylene bags. The technology is extendable to dehydrated tender jack fruit which can be used for curry preparation after dehydration.
  • Technology for Red palm olein (RPO) based soft gel as vitamin A supplement for combating vitamin A deficiencyRed Palm olein (RPO) processed by NIIST technology has a higher bioavailability of full spectrum carotenoid nutritional supplement.Richest natural source of carotenoids with concentrations of 700-1000 ppm.Red palmolein based soft gel capsules were developed as a supplement to meet the vegan requirement of vitamin-A based on RDA requirements.

    With the indigenisation of technology we were able to achieve 60% cost reduction in the entire equipment compared to the existing ones in international market which will help with large scale deployment for various photovoltaic sectors in near future
