Dr.Sasidhar B.S.

Sasidhar B S received his M.Sc. degree in Organic Chemistry in the year 2006 from the Department of Chemistry, Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. He started his professional career in leading pharmaceutical R&D’s in India; where he worked as Junior Research Scientist at Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd., Gurgaon, and Research Scientist at Jubilant Life Sciences Ltd., (Jubilant Generics Ltd.) Nanjanagud during 2006-2008. He was involved in process development of several generic drugs and in the synthesis of New Chemical Entities (NCE’s) for the drug discovery program. After the brief industrial experience, he moved to Department of Chemistry, Gulbarga University for his PhD and obtained his doctorate degree in 2012 under the guidance of Prof. Jayaprakash S Biradar for the thesis entitled “Synthesis of Novel Heterocycles of Biological Importance”. In 2012 (October) Dr. Sasidhar joined as Scientist at Chemical Sciences and Technology Division, CSIR-NIIST.

Dr. Sasidhar’s group is focused on the interdisciplinary aspects of chemistry with respect to medicinal and material properties. This includes methodology, target-oriented synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and phytochemistry. The focused activity of the group on fundamental aspects of organic and medicinal chemistry has led to the successful translational projects.
