Dr. Kosuru Ravi Kumar obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from AcSIR at CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad, with research focused on “Industrially Relevant Pathways for Lignin Isolation, Upgradation and Process Route Selection Based on Techno-Economic Analysis.” He has strong expertise in process development, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes, particularly in the domains of biomass valorization, specialty chemicals, and sustainable process design. Prior to his doctoral research, he completed his M.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Andhra University and B.Tech from MVGR College of Engineering, Vizianagaram.
Dr. Ravi Kumar has extensive research and industrial experience through his roles as a CSIR-Senior Research Fellow, Project Assistant at CSIR-IICT, as a Scientist (Downstream Processing) at Raspa Pharma Pvt. Ltd., Lucknow, and also as an Independent Process Development Consultant, focusing on translating laboratory-scale innovations into scalable industrial processes.
His research contributions span process development for several industrially relevant chemicals, including paracetamol, benzaldehyde, cinnamic acid, vinylidene fluoride, and dicyandiamide, along with feasibility and cost optimization studies for various specialty and fine chemicals. He has also independently worked on sustainable processes such as chloroacetaldehyde and its derivatives, precipitated silica and its derivatives from rice husk ash, phytic acid extraction from millets, and value addition from fly ash. Ravi Kumar has authored multiple research publications in reputed journals with a focus on thermodynamic modeling, phase equilibria, and biomass-based chemical processes. His research interests include Circular Chemical Engineering, Process Development, Process Intensification and Feasibility, Process Scale-up and Design, sustainable processes, and integration of biomass and waste streams into value-added products.
