केरल के तिरुवनंतपुरम की मूल निवासी डॉ. राखी आर.बी. एम.एससी की प्रथम श्रेणी धारक हैं। 2000 में केरल विश्वविद्यालय से भौतिकी। उन्होंने जुलाई 2009 में भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान मद्रास (आईआईटीएम), चेन्नई से सर्वश्रेष्ठ थीसिस पुरस्कार के साथ भौतिकी में पीएचडी प्राप्त की। उन्होंने किंग अब्दुल्ला यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ साइंस में अपना पोस्टडॉक्टरल शोध प्रशिक्षण पूरा किया और प्रौद्योगिकी (KAUST), सऊदी अरब साम्राज्य। उन्होंने केरल विश्वविद्यालय के भौतिकी विभाग में यूजीसी सहायक प्रोफेसर (जून 2019 - अगस्त 2021) के रूप में काम किया। डॉ. राखी आरबी वर्तमान में सीएसआईआर-एनआईआईएसटी के सामग्री विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी प्रभाग में प्रधान वैज्ञानिक हैं।
डॉ. राखी को 2016 में रामानुजन फ़ेलोशिप और 2013 और 2014 में लगातार अंतर्राष्ट्रीय SABIC पोस्टडॉक्टोरल फ़ेलोशिप पुरस्कार मिला। उन्होंने 6800 से अधिक उद्धरणों के साथ अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सहकर्मी-समीक्षा पत्रिकाओं में 78 से अधिक लेख प्रकाशित किए हैं और उनका एच-इंडेक्स 36 है। उनके नाम एल्सेवियर, नीदरलैंड्स द्वारा प्रकाशित पिछले तीन वर्षों (2019-2020, 2020-2021 और 2021-2022) से लगातार स्टैनफोर्ड ग्लोबल शीर्ष 2% वैज्ञानिकों की सूची में हैं।
उनकी वर्तमान अनुसंधान रुचियों में कार्यात्मक नैनोमटेरियल्स (नैनो कार्बन, ट्रांज़िशन मेटल ऑक्साइड, और कंडक्टिंग पॉलिमर), नैनोकम्पोजिट, स्तरित सामग्री (ट्रांज़िशन मेटल डाइक्लोजेनाइड्स और एमएक्सएन्स), नैनोटेक्नोलॉजी-सक्षम ऊर्जा भंडारण उपकरण (सुपरकैपेसिटर और हाइब्रिड डिवाइस), इलेक्ट्रोकैटलिसिस और इलेक्ट्रोकेमिकल सेंसर शामिल हैं।

हमारा समूह इलेक्ट्रोकेमिकल ऊर्जा भंडारण, इलेक्ट्रोकैटलिसिस और इलेक्ट्रोकेमिकल सेंसिंग अनुप्रयोगों के लिए नैनोसंरचित इलेक्ट्रोड सामग्री का संश्लेषण करता है। वर्तमान में, समूह 2डी स्तरित सामग्रियों (ग्राफीन, एमओएस2, एमएक्सईन्स और हेटरोस्ट्रक्चर), संक्रमण धातु ऑक्साइड और कार्बनिक/अकार्बनिक हाइब्रिड कंपोजिट के विकास पर ध्यान केंद्रित करता है।
सुपरकैपेसिटर

पोर्टेबल इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और परिवहन प्रणालियों से लेकर सौर और पवन जैसे नवीकरणीय स्रोतों के पूरक बैकअप सिस्टम तक, ऊर्जा भंडारण की मांग निकट भविष्य में काफी हद तक बढ़ने की उम्मीद है। सुपरकैपेसिटर तेजी से बढ़ते इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उद्योग के लिए एक आशाजनक ऊर्जा-भंडारण विकल्प के रूप में कार्य कर सकते हैं। इस परियोजना में, हम सुपरकैपेसिटर अनुप्रयोगों के लिए नैनोस्ट्रक्चर्ड इलेक्ट्रोड सामग्री को डिजाइन और विकसित करते हैं। हम सुपरकैपेसिटर के प्रदर्शन को बेहतर बनाने के लिए ऑक्साइड, चाल्कोजेनाइड्स और कार्बाइड्स और कार्बनिक/अकार्बनिक हाइब्रिड कंपोजिट सहित अकार्बनिक स्तरित सामग्रियों के विकास में विशेष रूप से रुचि रखते हैं।
इलेक्ट्रोकेमिकल सेंसर

संवेदनशील और चयनात्मक एंजाइम-आधारित बायोसेंसर का उपयोग जैविक प्रणालियों में मौजूद विभिन्न घटकों का पता लगाने और मात्रा निर्धारित करने के लिए किया जाता है। एक उपयुक्त इलेक्ट्रोकेमिकल ट्रांसड्यूसर के साथ एंजाइमों को शामिल करके अत्यधिक संवेदनशील एंजाइम-आधारित बायोसेंसर का निर्माण किया जा सकता है। चूंकि ऊर्जा भंडारण उपकरणों के लिए उपयोग की जाने वाली सामग्रियों की कई विशेषताएं जैसे कि बड़े सतह क्षेत्र, तेज़ आयन और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक परिवहन, ऊर्जा भंडारण के लिए विकसित की गई कुछ सामग्रियां सेंसर सामग्री के रूप में भी काम करती हैं। इस परियोजना में, पोटेंशियोस्टैटिक, चालकता-आधारित और कैपेसिटेंस-आधारित सेंसिंग उपकरणों की जांच की जा रही है।
इलेक्ट्रोकैटलिटिक जल विभाजन

हाइड्रोजन और ऑक्सीजन उत्पन्न करने के लिए इलेक्ट्रोकैटलिटिक जल विभाजन ने अत्यधिक ध्यान आकर्षित किया है क्योंकि यह मानवता की लगातार बढ़ती ऊर्जा मांगों को पूरा कर सकता है और साथ ही यह एक पर्यावरण-अनुकूल ऊर्जा उत्पादन तंत्र है। आदर्श रूप से, पानी के इलेक्ट्रोलिसिस में दो अर्ध-सेल प्रतिक्रियाएं शामिल होती हैं - हाइड्रोजन विकास प्रतिक्रिया (एचईआर) और ऑक्सीजन विकास प्रतिक्रिया (ओईआर) के लिए ∆E ° = 1.23 V बनाम सामान्य हाइड्रोजन इलेक्ट्रोड (NHE) की सैद्धांतिक इनपुट ऊर्जा की आवश्यकता होती है। हालाँकि दो-इलेक्ट्रॉन एचईआर तंत्र और चार-इलेक्ट्रॉन ओईआर तंत्र की सुस्त गतिकी के कारण जल-विभाजन प्रक्रिया शुरू करने के लिए अतिरिक्त मात्रा में ऊर्जा की आवश्यकता होती है। हाल ही में, अनुसंधान कुशल इलेक्ट्रोकैटलिस्ट सामग्रियों को डिजाइन करने और संश्लेषित करने की दिशा में प्रगति कर रहा है जो जल इलेक्ट्रोलिसिस के लिए आवश्यक अतिक्षमता (सैद्धांतिक और आवश्यक क्षमता के बीच अंतर) को कम कर सकता है। हमारा समूह वर्तमान में इलेक्ट्रोकैटलिटिक जल विभाजन के लिए 2डी ट्रांज़िशन मेटल डाइक्लोजेनाइड्स के विकास पर ध्यान केंद्रित कर रहा है।
